A pioneer back in service

X-VOLT is one of the first hybrid-electric demonstrators to have actually flown. It has logged 290 flight hours since 2020.

Its data, patents and flight test feedback now feed into AURA AERO’s programs.

A flying laboratory

Telemetry that tracks the aircraft in real time.
Its telemetry monitors every aircraft parameter in real time to support the test pilots. Powertrain, avionics, communications: everything was designed by our teams in Rochefort.

Paving the way for ERA

ERA’s technologies, flight-tested today.
X-VOLT flight-tests the propulsion technologies of ERA, our 19-seat hybrid-electric regional aircraft scheduled to fly in late 2027. Fitted with Safran ENGINeUS electric motors, also selected for ERA, it validates the building blocks of the future propulsion system in real-world conditions before they are integrated into the prototype.

Got a question?

We’re here to help.

  • X-VOLT is a technology demonstrator with hybrid-electric propulsion. It is used to experiment with, test and validate in real flight conditions the technologies that will contribute to the development of ERA, our 19-seat hybrid-electric regional aircraft.

  • X-VOLT plays a key role in the development of ERA. It makes it possible to flight-test and validate technologies that are essential to its operation, particularly in hybrid-electric propulsion, avionics and embedded software.

The goal is to anticipate technological challenges, make the solutions more reliable and prepare the next steps of the ERA program.

  • Yes. X-VOLT is designed to host technologies developed by industrial partners. This test platform makes it possible to experiment in real flight conditions and to assess the behavior and performance of new onboard equipment or systems, through test campaigns tailored to the needs of each project.

  • No. X-VOLT is an experimental technology demonstrator, dedicated to research, development and flight validation of new aeronautical technologies. It is not intended to be sold as a production aircraft.
